The HPI Reinforced Transmission continues to be the choice of champions in competitive motorsports, engineered to handle up to 50kgm (approx. 360 lb-ft) of torque and 430ps.
 
Optimized Gear Ratios for Total Control
To maximize the potential for circuit racing and drifting, we have optimized the gear ratios.
1st and 2nd gears are brought closer to 3rd, while 6th gear is positioned closer to 5th.
Unlike typical competition-only straight-cut gears—which prioritize raw strength and ease of manufacturing but suffer from loud "whining" noises and poor shift feel—our unit is designed for versatility.
We have achieved a balance that provides high-performance ratios without sacrificing the refinement required for occasional street use.
 
Engineered Strength & Durability
  • Increased Gear Diameter: Strength is bolstered by increasing the physical diameter of the gears through ratio adjustment.
  • Revised Gear Module: By reducing the tooth count and increasing the size of each individual tooth, we have significantly improved the load-carrying capacity of both the counter and main gears.
  • Reduced Helix Angle: We reduced the gear twist angle to mitigate forward thrust forces caused by impact torque.
    This specifically prevents common end-face failures on the counter reverse gear.
  • Refined Operation: While maintaining the core strengths of the OEM FS6R92A, our optimizations deliver shift quality and quietness that far surpass older synchro-type or harsh dog-engagement transmissions.
 
Artisan Precision Assembly
Each unit is hand-assembled in a climate-controlled, dust-free dedicated cleanroom.
Using HPI-exclusive specialized tools (SST), our technicians perform a meticulous multi-point inspection of every component.
During assembly, parts are treated with our acclaimed Next-Generation COA Lubricant, which reduces metal fatigue and ensures a butter-smooth shift feel from the very first drive.
 
Speedometer Compatibility
The standard S15 Silvia retrieves its speed signal from ABS sensors, meaning the transmission itself lacks a physical speedometer drive gear.
This previously made swaps into S13 or S14 chassis difficult.
HPI has resolved this by integrating a speedometer drive gear and providing the necessary components (NISMO and Nissan OEM parts) to ensure functional instrumentation.
 
Precautions & Maintenance
  • COMPETITION USE ONLY: This is a motorsport-grade component and is not covered by warranty.
  • Operating Limits: Exceeding the design torque/power limits may result in gear failure.
  • Required Fluids & Hardware: Use only NISMO gear oil and the specified NISMO clutch kits.
    Do not use unauthorized additives.
  • Driving Technique: High-load downshifting (engine braking) puts extreme stress on the transmission.
    Always rev-match (heel-and-toe) to ensure long-term reliability.
  • NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness): Due to the focus on high-performance competition use, some increased noise or vibration may be present compared to standard OEM units.
  • Installation: Professional installation by a certified workshop is mandatory.
